Are your doors made from real steel?
Yes. Our steel doors are manufactured using genuine steel profiles rather than aluminium profiles designed to imitate the appearance of steel.

Do you supply throughout the UK?
Yes. Iconic Doors supplies and installs bespoke steel doors for customers throughout the UK.

How much do steel doors cost?
Because every Iconic Doors product is bespoke and made to measure, pricing depends on the size, configuration, glass, finish, hardware and complexity of your chosen design.

How do I get a quote?
Simply submit an enquiry through our website with your approximate measurements and, where possible, photographs of the opening.
Let us know what type of doors you’re looking for and any preferred design, colour or glass options. Our team will then discuss your requirements and prepare a quotation.
How long is my quotation valid for?
Our quotations are normally valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated on the quotation.
Prices may need to be revised if measurements, specifications or requirements change.
Survey & Measuring
Do you carry out a professional site survey?
Yes. For our full supply-and-installation service, we professionally survey your openings before your doors are manufactured.
This allows us to take accurate measurements and confirm important details including configuration, opening direction, glass, handles and finishes.
What needs to be completed before my survey?
Where possible, your opening should be in its final finished condition before our survey.
We recommend that flooring, plastering and any structural alterations affecting the opening are completed beforehand. Changes to the opening after our measurements have been taken can affect the fit of your bespoke doors.
Should my finished flooring be installed before the survey?
Yes, wherever possible.
Your final flooring can affect the overall height of the opening. Having the finished floor installed before we take final manufacturing measurements reduces the possibility of discrepancies later.
If you choose to proceed with a survey before the final flooring is installed, you should make our surveyor aware.
Can I measure the opening myself?
You can provide approximate measurements for quotation purposes.
For projects being installed by Iconic Doors, we will take our own final manufacturing measurements during the professional survey.
For supply-only orders where measurements are provided by the customer, responsibility for the accuracy of those measurements remains with the customer.
What happens if my walls, ceiling or floor aren't level?
This is very common, particularly in older properties.
Our doors are manufactured square and level. If the surrounding opening is significantly out of level or square, additional finishing may be required.
Depending on the opening, trims may be available to create a cleaner finished appearance.

Are all your steel doors bespoke?
Yes. Our steel doors are made to measure specifically for each project.
You can customise the dimensions, configuration, glazing, bar layout, colour and hardware depending on the chosen system.
What colours are available?
Our steel doors can be powder coated in a wide selection of colours.
Black remains one of our most popular finishes, but we can also offer alternative RAL colours and specialist finishes such as antique bronze.

Can I choose different handles?

Yes. Locking options are available on many of our door configurations.

Door Types
Do you make internal steel doors?
Yes. Internal steel doors are one of our main specialities and can be used between kitchens, living rooms, hallways, offices, dining rooms and many other spaces.
They allow light to flow between rooms while creating separation between different areas of the property.
Do you make steel French doors?
Yes. We manufacture bespoke steel French doors in a wide variety of sizes and designs.
They can also be combined with fixed side panels or overhead glazing to create larger steel screens.
Do you make steel sliding doors?
Yes. We offer bespoke steel sliding door systems, including configurations with fixed glazed panels.
Sliding steel doors can be an excellent solution where you want a large glazed opening without requiring the swing space of conventional hinged doors.
Do you offer steel bi-fold doors?
Yes. Bespoke internal steel bi-fold configurations are available for suitable openings.

Can you make floor-to-ceiling steel doors?
Yes. Subject to the dimensions and technical requirements of the project, we can manufacture large floor-to-ceiling steel doors and glazed partitions.
Can you manufacture unusually shaped or non-standard doors?
Potentially, yes.
Because our products are bespoke, we can accommodate many openings that cannot be served by standard off-the-shelf doors.

Fire-Rated Steel Doors
Do you supply FD30 fire-rated steel doors?
Yes. Iconic Doors can provide specialist fire-rated steel door systems for suitable applications.
Fire-rated doors require the correct tested combination of frame, glazing, hardware and associated components.
Is fire-rated glass alone enough to make a steel door fire rated?
No.
Installing fire-resistant glass into a standard steel door does not automatically make the complete door assembly fire rated.
A genuine fire-rated solution needs to use an appropriate tested/certified system, with compatible framing, glazing, hardware and installation requirements.
Manufacturing & Drawings
Will I receive drawings before my doors are manufactured?
Yes. Final drawings are provided for approval before fabrication.
These drawings allow you to review the design, dimensions, bar configuration, opening direction and other relevant specifications before manufacture begins.
What should I check on my drawings?
Please carefully check every detail shown on your drawings, particularly:
- Door configuration
- Opening direction
- Bar design
- Glass specification
- Colour/finish
- Handle design and position
- Overall appearance
- Quantities
The customer is responsible for carefully reviewing and approving the final drawings before signing them off for manufacture.
Can I change the design after approving the drawings?
Once final drawings have been approved and manufacture has commenced, changes may not be possible.
Where changes are possible, they may result in additional manufacturing costs and delays.
For this reason, we strongly recommend carefully reviewing every detail before providing final approval.
Manufacturing & Lead Times
How long do bespoke steel doors take to manufacture?
Our typical lead time is approximately 6–8 weeks following final survey and drawing approval, although this can vary depending on the specification, complexity, production schedule and specialist finishes or glass.
Your project manager will keep you updated throughout the process.
Why do bespoke steel doors take several weeks to manufacture?
Unlike mass-produced doors, our steel doors are manufactured specifically for your opening.
The process can include detailed drawings, steel fabrication, welding, preparation, powder coating, glazing, hardware preparation, quality checks and transportation before installation.
Installation
Do you install the doors?
Yes. We offer professional installation as part of our supply-and-install service.
Our installers will fit, adjust and check the doors to ensure they operate correctly before completion.
How long does installation take?
Installation time depends on the size and complexity of the project.
Many straightforward installations can be completed within one day, while larger projects involving multiple doors, sliding systems or extensive glazed partitions may require additional time.
Do you carry out structural or building work?
Our primary responsibility is the supply and installation of your steel doors.
Any structural alterations or significant preparation to the opening should normally be completed by the appropriate trade before installation.
If you’re unsure whether your opening is ready, please speak to us before your installation date.
Do I need suitable fixings behind plasterboard?
Yes. Suitable structural fixing points need to be available where required to securely install the steel frames.
Where an opening has been created using plasterboard, appropriate timber or structural support should be installed behind it.
If suitable fixing points are not available, additional work may be required and additional charges may apply.
What if I have underfloor heating?
Please inform us before installation if underfloor heating or other concealed services are present close to the installation area.
The customer is responsible for identifying the location of concealed pipes, cables and underfloor heating systems where drilling or fixing may be required.
Will there be gaps around my steel doors?
Small installation tolerances are required to allow a bespoke steel frame to be safely installed into an existing building opening.
These gaps are normally finished appropriately as part of the installation. Where an opening is significantly uneven, alternative finishing options such as trims may be recommended.
Aftercare
How should I clean my steel doors?
For routine cleaning, use a soft microfibre cloth with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution.
Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals or aggressive cleaning products as these may damage the powder-coated finish.
Glass should be cleaned using a suitable glass cleaner while avoiding excessive contact with surrounding painted steelwork.
Do steel doors require much maintenance?
Internal steel doors are generally very low maintenance.
Keeping the glass and frames clean and periodically checking moving components is usually sufficient for normal residential use.
What happens if my doors need adjusting?
Some doors may require minor adjustment over time as hinges and moving components settle or as the surrounding property naturally moves.
If you experience an issue with the operation of your doors, contact our aftercare team with photographs or a video and we can advise you on the appropriate next step.

What is the difference between steel doors and steel-look aluminium doors?
